Corrections in the Fifth Printing of the Tenth Edition
The fifth (and subsequent) printings of the Tenth Edition of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised contain a number of corrections. (It's easy to tell what "printing" of the 10th edition you have: on the back of the title page, it is the first number on the bottom line.)
Most of the corrections are of typographical and minor formatting errors, with no conceivable substantive impact. They are not noted here. A few, however, are worthy of note because they correct reference pages (particularly in the index) or for other reasons.
They are listed below so that if you have a printing earlier than the fifth you may, if you wish, note them in your copy:
- p. xxvi, l. 10: strike out "law" and insert "in the nature of a body of law"
- p. 65, l. 33: strike out "the same or the next day" and insert "later within the same session* "
- p.65, at the bottom: insert as footnote "* Sentence corrected to remove remaining inconsistency in earlier printings."
- p. 198, l. 3: strike out "not" and insert "now"
- p. 230, footnote, 6th line: following "Adjourn" strike out "to" and insert "is"
- p. 370, l. 3: strike out "four" and insert "five"
- p. 427, l. 27: strike out "408-14" and insert "409-14"
- p. 555, l. 1: strike out "by" and insert "be"
- p. 558, l. 5: following "are to" insert "be"
- p. 573, l. 32: strike out "specific" and insert "specified"
- Tinted p. 6, item number 5: strike out the first "56" and insert "54" so that the parenthetical reads "(10, 54, 56)"
- Tinted p.16, item number 41: strike out "and no other meeting is scheduled for the same or the next day"
- Tinted p.16, item number 41: following "(22)" insert "*"
- Tinted p.16, item number 42: strike out "when another meeting is scheduled for the same or the next day, or if the motion is made" and insert "if moved"
- Tinted p.16, item number 42: following "(10, 22)" insert "*"
- Tinted p.16, at the bottom: insert as footnote "* Corrected to remove remaining inconsistency in earlier printings."

As a matter of policy, the rules in the body of RONR's text are not changed in different printings of the same edition, so that any copy of the same edition will remain equally authoritative. Corrections in the Introduction or Index do not violate this policy, since they do not affect the rules themselves nor, for the same reason, do typographical or formatting corrections. Nor do the corrections noted above with regard to Fix the Time to Which to Adjourn, since they simply correct a summary table in the tinted pages and the brief summary in section 6 to conform to the principal statement of the rules governing the motion in section 22. Nevertheless, to avoid any confusion that might come from comparing the text in an earlier printing with that in a later one, brief explanatory footnotes have been added to the latter corrections.
